About Edward P. Kelly

Ed has over 20 years’ experience advising new and established businesses on the full range of corporate/business matters, commercial real estate transactions and regulatory issues. He also has a niche representing bars and restaurants in business and real estate matters, and guiding them through all phases of the liquor license process.

A skilled negotiator, Ed works closely with clients to close deals and to structure their business models to fit their goals. He also advises clients on all aspects of launching, selling or restructuring a business. He is experienced in business entity formation, and drafting Shareholders’, Partners’ and LLC Operating Agreements. Ed guides clients in expanding through mergers and acquisitions and in positioning a company for sale.

Ed has deep experience in commercial real estate transactions, including:

For many of his clients, Ed also serves as outside general counsel, providing the resources for solutions in a wide range of matters, from employment law counseling to intellectual property and trademark issues to business disputes.

Prior to founding Kennedy Kelly LLP, Ed was a partner in the Corporate and Real Estate Departments at Fox Rothschild LLP, and was also previously the Chair of the Commercial Real Estate and Business Transactions Department at Raffaele Puppio LLP in Media, PA. Often a speaker at Bar Association events, Ed has authored articles for the Commerce Case Management Program Decisions Project. In addition, he was a member of the Editorial Board of the Philadelphia Bar Reporter from 2008 until 2013. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and Juris Doctorate from The Boston University School of Law.

Ed was named a Pennsylvania Rising Star in 2010, 2013 and 2014 by Philadelphia Magazine and was among the “Best Lawyers” recognized by the Delaware County Daily Times in 2017.

Ed and his wife Rebeca (an Education Consultant at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit) live in Springfield with their two children. He represents the First Ward of Springfield Township (Delco) on the Board of Commissioners, where he previously served on the Zoning Hearing Board. Ed serves on the Delco Run for Heroes 5k Planning Committee and as a coach for several sports at the Springfield Athletic Association. Ed is a Class Agent for the Malvern Prep Alumni Association, a member of the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Association and former Vice President of the Class of 1996 Board, and is Past President of The Boston University School of Law Philadelphia Young Alumni Council.
